WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's volleyball team fell by a 3-0 final to Williams College on Saturday afternoon in NESCAC action at Chandler Gymnasium.
The Ephs picked up their first league win of the season and improved to 6-3 overall, claiming victory via set scores of 25-15, 25-15 and 25-18. Annaliese Fricke and Tatum Baker finished with 12 kills apiece to lead the Williams attack.
Mila Chan (San Francisco, Calif.) paced Conn with nine kills on 32 attempts.
The Camels got off to a hot start, racing out to a 7-2 lead at the start of the match. Chan supplied three kills during the stretch, while
Amanda Kreidler (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) tacked on another and
Josie Kelly (Solana Beach, Calif.) chipped in a service ace. However, the Ephs responded with an 8-2 spurt and never trailed again. Williams later led 15-13 before closing out the set behind a 10-2 run that included three kills by Fricke.
The second set was tight until Williams ripped off seven straight points to take an 18-8 advantage. The Ephs finished with 11 kills against only six attack errors, while the Camels committed 10 errors against only four kills.
Fricke led the charge in the final set with six of Williams' 15 kills in the frame. The Ephs used a 5-0 run to build a 15-8 lead and didn't let the margin dip below five the rest of the way.
Kreidler and
Riley Lord (Exeter, N.H.) each finished with three kills while Kelly handed out 14 assists.
Caroline Festersen (Omaha, Neb.) paced the defense with 12 digs.
Conn (7-3 overall, 0-2 NESCAC) will next host Trinity College on Friday, September 27 at 6:00 p.m.
