NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's tennis team opened the fall season with a pair of victories over Springfield College on Saturday afternoon.
Using a modified scoring format, the Camels picked up wins by final scores of 6-0 and 5-1.
James Serhant III (Hadley, Mass.) and
Walker Mulligan (Guilford, Conn.) each contributed three wins on the day to lead the charge.
In the first match, the Camels breezed through No. 1 and 3 doubles while the duo of
Maximo Gulla (Madison, Conn.) and
Jules Taylor-Kerman (New York, N.Y.) prevailed by a 7-5 final at No. 2. In singles, both Taylor-Kerman and
Sigmund Winiecki (Jaffrey, N.Y.) won in straight sets, and
Andy Feldman (Newton, Mass.) prevailed in a 10-point tiebreaker in lieu of a third set.
The second match also saw Conn sweep the three doubles points, this time by 6-4 finals at all three spots. Mulligan and Serhant supplied wins in both doubles and singles, with each taking a singles victory via a 10-point tiebreaker.
The Camels will next host the Conn College Invite on Saturday, October 5.
