BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Connecticut College field hockey team opened the 2024 season with a 3-0 setback against No. 3 Babson College on Tuesday evening at MacDowell Field.
Jessica Evans and Helen DiGiovanni scored goals for the Beavers in the first half, and Berit Sharrow added an insurance tally early in the second. Babson, an NCAA semifinalist last year, improved to 2-0 on the young season.
The Camels attempted 10 shots in the contest and put three on goal, but Babson goalie Bayla Furmanek kept the visitors off the scoreboard to record her 22nd career shutout.
Liz Winemaster (Lake Forest, Ill.) and
Bea Talbott (St. Louis, Mo.) split time in goal for the Camels and combined for nine saves.
Conn (0-1 overall) will open NESCAC play at Amherst College on Saturday, September 7 at noon.
