WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's cross country team finished fourth out of 13 teams at the James Earley Invitational on Saturday morning at Stanley Park.

With several runners sitting out the event following last week's Paul Short Run, Conn's top-seven harriers all finished inside the top 50 of the field. Abby Fernald (Avon, Conn.) led the squad with a seventh-place finish and logged a time of 19:04.21 over the 5K course.

Williams took home the team title with a score of 34 points, besting the efforts from host Westfield State (45), Springfield (97), Conn (131) and Framingham State (169). Estella Laird posted the winning time of 18:22.11 for the Ephs.

Following Fernald's strong pace, Conn's next five finishers all logged career-best 5K times. Juliet Provost (Seekonk, Mass.) finished 27th in 20:13.43 while Brooke Law (Skillman, N.J.) took 32nd in 20:22.88. Olivia Ferraro (Cheshire, Conn.) checked in at 35th in 20:30.53, and Annika Hegde (New York, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring with a 39th-place finish in 20:35.43. Lea Adelmann (Natick, Mass.) and Molly Donovan (Medfield, Mass.) filled out Conn's top-7 with times of 20:38.26 and 20:49.22, respectively.

Conn will next host the Conn College Invitational on Saturday, October 18 at Harkness Park in Waterford, Conn. The first of four races will begin at 10:00 a.m.
