NEW LONDON, Conn. – Connecticut College has hired Jared Cockrell as assistant coach of the men's ice hockey program, as announced by head coach Jim Ward on Thursday.
Cockrell joins a program that returns 23 letterwinners for the 2025-26 season. His roles behind the bench include recruiting, practice preparation, video coordination, and scouting.
"We're excited to have Jared join the team," said Ward. "He brings a wealth of experience at both the collegiate and professional levels. I am confident that his impact will be very positive on the team."
Cockrell played in 112 career games across four seasons with Colgate University, culminating in being named team captain during his final year. Following his time with the Raiders, he attended graduate school at St. Cloud State University, where he appeared in 30 games and helped the Huskies reach the NCAA Championship title game in 2021.
Following his collegiate career, Cockrell signed with the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL, appearing in 81 career games, and recording 28 points across one and a half seasons.
A native of Kents Hill, Maine, Cockrell graduated from Colgate with a degree in Economics, before earning a master's in Business Administration from St. Cloud State. He spent the last three years working in the business world at Button and PitchBook Data.
