NEW LONDON, Conn. – More than 180 Connecticut College students presented at the institution's seventh annual All-College Symposium on Thursday.
A total of 54 senior student-athletes representing 23 teams showcased how their coursework and experiences have informed their studies over the past four years, presenting in the form of talks, panels, and poster sessions.
Through Connections, Conn's interdisciplinary education initiative, students are encouraged to create deeper linkages between the work they do in courses, in internships, in the community, and around the globe, to prepare them for leadership in an era of change.
The class of 2026 is the fourth class to experience the symposium throughout their four years at Conn.
Student-athletes covered a wide variety of topics, from zoning and public transportation in Chinese and Taiwanese cities, to the power of generative AI in finance and consulting, to analyzing the NHL's use of data and its impact on hockey. They posed deep and meaningful questions: How has the rise of global conflict affected global maritime shipping? How does mass incarceration in the U.S. affect our democracy? How do socioeconomic disparities affect youth participation in sports and their health?
The participants presented in front of an audience of their peers, faculty and staff. Students were given the day off from classes in order to attend the sessions. Additionally, teams and coaches did not schedule practices or training sessions in order to accommodate the presenters and show support for the event.
