KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Connecticut College men's soccer team placed four members on the United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Region 1 teams as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Juniors Max Haberman (San Diego, Calif.), Gavin Mpiana (Cape Town, South Africa), and Marco Perugini (Medway, Mass.), along with sophomore Dylan Hoke (Westport, Conn.) found themselves honored.
Haberman picked up first-team recognition after being named NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year. The midfielder started all 21 games, finishing fourth on the team in scoring with nine points on four goals and one assist, while helping hold opponents to 0.62 goals per game.
Hoke also earned first-team honors, after being named to the All-NESCAC First-Team. The sophomore appeared in and started 19 games at center back, helping Conn record 10 clean sheets, while allowing just 12 goals when he played.
Perugini rounds out the first-team selections, also being named to the All-NESCAC First-Team. The junior led Conn in scoring with 19 points on seven goals and five assists, including a team-best three game-winning goals.
The final all-region selection for the Camels is Mpiana, who was named to the second-team. Mpiana finished tied for second on the team in scoring, recording 10 points on four goals and two assists, while adding two game-winning goals.
"It's a massive honor for both the individual players and also for the whole program to have four players earn all-region accolades," said head coach Reuben Burk. "Each of the four players have earned the recognition through their work-ethic, dedication, and consistent quality, but they also couldn't have achieved it without their teammates pushing them to be at their best everyday in practice."
Connecticut College wrapped up the season with their third-straight appearance in the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament, and their fourth NESCAC Championship game appearance in five years.
