Women's Hockey Closes Out 2025 with 3-0 Win at Worcester State

WORCESTER, Mass. – Avery Olson (Manchester, Mass.) made her first career start and stopped all 21 shots she faced as the Connecticut College women's ice hockey closed out play in 2025 with a 3-0 win over Worcester State on Friday night from the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.

The teams traded the first six shots of the game, as both Kelsey Czerniawksi and Olson made three saves. Conn opened the scoring at 7:48 as Serena Seiple (Wilmette, Ill.) found the back of the net unassisted to make it 1-0. Conn controlled play for the rest of the period, but were unable to extend the advantage, leading 1-0 after the first.

Worcester State had an early chance to tie the score, earning a power play just 1:05 into the frame. The Lancers put four shots on goal with the advantage but Olson turned them all aside. At 7:42 the Camels doubled their lead thanks to a goal from Casey Chesner (Great Falls, Va.) as Seiple and Emma Peterson (Westwood, Mass.) picked up the assists. With just over four minutes remaining, Conn pushed the lead further, as Chesner notched her second goal of the game, as Seiple and Alan Burm (Hingham, Mass.) earned the assists as the Camels led 3-0 heading to the third.

Conn continued to stay on the front foot, as the Camels forced six saves from Czerniawksi in the opening five minutes. Worcester State pushed down the stretch, looking to spoil the shutout, but Olson stood tall down the stretch, as Conn picked up the 3-0 win.

Conn outshot Worcester State 38-21, while winning 25 of 46 face-offs.

Olson made her collegiate debut, stopping all 21 shots faced to earn her first career shutout. Seiple paced the Camels with three points on one goal and two assists, as Chesner added two goals, and Burm and Peterson each chipped in one assist. Conn finished 4-4 on the penalty kill and 0-2 on the power play.

Czerniawski got the start in goal, recording 35 saves, as the Lancers went 0-4 on the power play and 2-2 on the penalty kill.

Conn (4-1-2, 2-1-1 NESCAC) returns to action on Friday, January 2 as the Camels travel to Boston, Mass. to take on Suffolk at 6:00 p.m.
