Women's Track and Field Begins Indoor Season at Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's track and field team began the new campaign competing at the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational on Saturday.

60 Meters

  • Blessing Kieh (Monrovia, Liberia) claimed victory with a time of 7.66, setting a school record time of 7.59 in the preliminaries.

  • Sindi Khumalo (Uxbridge, Mass.) finished sixth with a time of 8.61.

  • Lina Pepe (Ridgefield, Conn.) finished eighth with a time of 9.12.

200 Meters

  • Brooke Schulze (Oceanport, N.J.) finished second with a time of 27.62.

  • Alexis Melvin (Wilmington, Mass.) finished fourth with a time of 28.28.

  • Khumalo finished ninth with a time of 29.04.

400 Meters

  • Alina Newman (Santa Monica, Calif.) claimed victory with a personal best time of 1:01.15.

  • Melvin finished fourth with a time of 1:03.49.

  • Schulze finished fifth with a time of 1:04.02.

60 Meter Hurdles

  • Newman claimed victory with a personal best time of 9.58.

Long Jump

  • Anabelle Orth (Augusta, Maine) finished fifth with a jump of 4.59m.

Triple Jump

  • Brenna O'Brien (North Andover, Mass.) finished third with a personal best jump of 9.96m.

Shot Put

  • Marly Kasdon (Weston, Mass.) finished third with a throw of 10.53m.

  • Kate Stone (Audubon, Pa.) finished fourth with a throw of 9.56m.

  • Maddy Thaxton (East Thetford, Vt.) finished fifth with a throw of 8.98m.

  • Sadie Michelson (Berlin, Mass.) finished seventh with a throw of 7.98m.

Weight Put

  • Stone finished second with a throw of 10.98m.

  • Kasdon finished third with a throw of 10.69m.

  • Michelson finished seventh with a throw of 7.88m.

  • Thaxton finished eighth with a throw of 6.22m.

Conn returns to action in the new year, traveling back to Middletown, Conn. to compete in another Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, January 10.
