HAMILTON, N.Y. – Fifth-seeded Connecticut College came up short against fourth-seeded Hamilton College in the quarterfinals of the 2025 NESCAC Men's Basketball Championship, falling by a 70-61 final on Saturday afternoon at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.
The Camels led in the early going, but the Continentals took control behind a 14-0 run and never trailed again. Down by 11 at the break, Conn trimmed the deficit to four in the second half. However, Hamilton responded with eight straight points to bring the margin back to double digits, and the visitors never got closer than six the rest of the way.
Teja Singh led all scorers with 24 points to pace the Continentals, who advanced to next weekend's semifinals at Wesleyan University. Hank Morgan added 14 points and eight rebounds while Jalen Reese chipped in six points and a game-high 12 boards.
Elias Espinosa (Leonia, N.J.) led the Camels with 19 point and shot 4-for-8 from long range.
Garrett Clar (Victor, N.Y.) contributed 16 points, four rebounds and four steals while
Dylan Watson (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) chipped in a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards.
A hook shot by
Andrew Hartel (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and a three-pointer by Espinosa staked Conn to a 5-0 lead early. Singh kept the Continentals in the game, scoring his team's first seven points and sparking the 14-0 run that left the hosts with a 16-7 lead at the 8:48 mark.
Matthew Rideout gave Hamilton a boost off the bench, netting all nine of his points in the first half. The Continentals also pounded the glass for 13 offensive rebounds in the stanza, getting second- and third-chance opportunities on multiple possessions. Espinosa kept the Camels close with 10 points in the half, but the visitors trailed 30-19 at intermission.
In the second half, a 7-0 spurt by the Camels cut the deficit to 41-36 with 13:30 to play. Minutes later,
Alden Doran (Belgrade, Maine) drilled a three to get Conn to within four at 45-41. Hamilton responded with an 8-0 burst that included threes by Morgan and Singh to bring the margin back to double digits.
Conn's last push came with 4:07 to go when Clar converted a three-point play to cut the lead to 56-50. However, that would be as close as the Camels would get, and late threes by Espinosa and Clar weren't enough to make up the difference.
Conn, making its fourth-straight NESCAC Championship appearance, finished the season with an overall record of 13-12.
