SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Connecticut College sophomore
Cam Bizjak (Willoughby, Ohio) finished fifth in the 1M dive on Saturday afternoon on the final day of the NCAA Division III Region 3 Diving Championships at Art Linkletter Natatorium.
For the second day in a row, Bizjak broke a school record with a score of 452.85 over his 11 dives. In the final round he stuck his most difficult dive—an inward 2 1/2 somersault tuck—and recorded his highest net score (21.0) and total score (65.10) of the day.
The result wrapped up a big weekend for Bizjak, who is looking to become the first Camel since 2003 to qualify for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. On Friday he finished as runner-up in the 3M dive with a school record total of 496.25.
Williams College's Calder Biondi won the 1M event with a score of 483.75. Springfield College's Christian Butler (462.25) and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy's Thomas Cable (462.25) rounded out the podium places.
The announcement for the NCAA field of 24 divers will be made no later than Monday, March 3.
