ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The women's distance medley relay finished third, as the Connecticut College track and field teams opened up competition at the 2025 Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Grace McDonough (Londonderry, N.H.) got the day started for the Camels competing in the preliminary round of the women's mile. McDonough finished with a time of 4:53.90 to claim second place to earn a spot in the championship finals tomorrow.
The next event for Conn was the women's 800m where Alexa Estes (Virginia Beach, Va.) competed for the second straight season. Estes improved on her seed time, finishing 10th with a time of 2:11.642, missing out on a spot in the championship finals by 0.6 seconds.
The evening for the Camels concluded with history. The women's distance medley relay team of Abby Fernald (Avon, Conn.), Lilla Kate Tucker (Marietta, Ga.), Estes, and McDonough finished with a time of 11:45.12 to earn a spot on the podium. The third place finish for Conn, marks the first time that a Camels relay squad has earned All-American honors.
Conn returns to action tomorrow for Day 2 of the Championships as McDonough will compete in the finals of the mile at approximately 4:15 p.m. before Matt Scardigno races in the men's 3000m at approximately 5:40 p.m.
