AUSTIN, Texas – Connecticut College swimmer
Justin Finkel (Cheshire, Conn.) has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Team, as announced by the national organization on Wednesday.
Finkel, a senior who is majoring in biological sciences, was one of 12 student-athletes who landed a spot on the first team. A total of 30 student-athletes from across the country were honored at the Division III level, as determined by a vote of sports information directors.
Finkel earned CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America® recognition for the second time in his career, having made the third team as a junior. He is only the second Conn College student-athlete to earn first team status, and the first since 2014.
The award punctuates a tremendous career for Finkel, a 12-time All-America selection who captured four national titles and two national swimmer of the year awards while at Conn. He was also named NESCAC Swimmer of the Year for three straight years and won eight individual NESCAC titles.
College Sports Communicators (CSC) began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored more than 40,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.
