NEW LONDON, Conn. – The No. 52 Connecticut College men's tennis team lost its season finale against No. 21 Hamilton College by a 6-1 final on Saturday afternoon at Luce Field House.
The match began on a positive note for the Camels, who captured the doubles point behind victories at the Nos. 1 and 2 positions. However, the Continentals bounced back to take all six singles points, improving to 16-4 overall (6-4 NESCAC) with the team victory.
The duo of
Arjun Premkumar (Bangalore, India) and
Nikhil Agarwal (San Mateo, Calif.) cruised to a 6-1 win over Connor Griff and Antonio Chavez at the top spot. Things were much tighter at No. 2 doubles, where
Walker Mulligan (Guilford, Conn.) and
Wolf Sohlberg (Espoo, Finland) outlasted Anson Anderson and Tarun Korwar by a 7-6 decision.
The lone singles match that required a third set came at the No. 1 spot between Premkumar and Griff. The Conn sophomore took the opening set 7-6 in a tiebreaker but came up short in the next two, with Griff prevailing by 6-3, 6-2 tallies.
Prior to the match, the Camels honored their five seniors—Mulligan,
