4/26/2025 8:44:00 PM

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Junior Grace McDonough (Londonderry, N.H.) claimed two NESCAC titles and junior Alexa Estes (Virginia Beach, Va.) added another crown as the Connecticut College women's track and field team finished seventh with 50 points at the 2025 NESCAC Championships.

McDonough defended her title in the 1500 meters and also added another in the 5000 meters, while Estes defended her title in the 800 meters. It marked just the fourth and fifth time in school history that a member of the women's squad has won titles in back-to-back seasons.

Despite less than ideal conditions, the duo combined to break three NESCAC meet records on the day. Estes logged a time of 2:09.40 in the 800 meters, breaking the record of 2:09.51 set by Cassie Kearney (Middlebury) in 2022. In the 1500 meters, McDonough's time of 4:25.47 broke the record of 4:26.64 set by Cassie Kearney (Middlebury) in 2022. McDonough then went on to clock a time of 16:41.56 in the 5000 meters, breaking the record of 16:51.97 set by Shauneen Garrahan (Amherst) in 2007.

Estes is the NESCAC's first repeat champion in the 800 meters since 2013. McDonough, the NESCAC's first repeat champion in the 1500 meters since 2017, became the second Camel to ever win the 5000 meters. She also joins an elite group of Conn runners who own three NESCAC titles, a list that includes Malissa Lindsey and Denise Llewellyn.

Five other Camels earned All-NESCAC honors via top-3 finishes. Blessing Kieh (Monrovia, Liberia) took third place in the 100 meters in her NESCAC debut, and the 4x800 relay team of Lilla Kate Tucker (Marietta, Ga.), April Schilling (Amherst, Mass.), Caroline Graziani (Concord, Mass.) and Estes finished second.
