NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Senior forward
Claire Sammons (Naperville, Ill.) of the Connecticut College women's hockey team was awarded New England Hockey Writers Association (NEHWA) Women's Division II-III All-Star honors when they were announced today.
Sammons turned in a spectacular final season with the Camels. She became the first player in school history to be named NESCAC Player of the Year, as well as the first since 2016 to garner All-NESCAC First Team honors. She led Conn with 18 points on six goals and 12 assists in 24 games. The forward also blocked 22 shots and ranked fourth in assists and seventh in points among the NESCAC leaders.
Additionally, Sammons became the first player in program histroy to earn American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American, being named to the 2nd-team last week.
Sammons ends her career with 41 points on 21 goals and 20 assists, along with five power play goals, four game-winning goals, and one shorthanded goal.
