NEW LONDON, Conn. -- First-year forward
Caitlin Pierce (Edgewater, N.J.) of the Connecticut College women's ice hockey team was named to the D3 Hockey News All-Rookie Team as announced by the organization on Monday.
Pierce turned in a fantastic rookie season for the Camels, earning NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors. Additionally, Pierce was the only rookie recognized on the All-NESCAC teams, earning a spot on the second team.
Pierce ranked second on the team, and fourth in the NESCAC in rookie scoring, recording 14 points on six goals and eight assists, while finishing with the second most game-winning goals, three, including the overtime winner to hand No. 1 Middlebury their first loss on Jan. 11.
The Camels finished the year with an 11-12-1 mark overall and a 6-9-1 mark in conference play, earning the eighth seed in the NESCAC Tournament, and making their 16th conference tournament appearance in the last 17 years.
