WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Connecticut College women's rowing team took part in the New England Rowing Championships on Saturday at Lake Quinsigamond.
The Camels competed in three morning heats but just one afternoon final, as thunderstorms canceled all but the 1V8 finals. Tough racing conditions slowed boats across the board in the afternoon, with MIT coming out on top in the grand final.
Conn's 1V8 crew narrowly missed out on qualifying for the petite final with a time in 7:42 in its morning heat, finishing fifth out of six boats to land a spot in the third final. Later in the day, the Camels clocked in at 8:59 to finish third ahead of boats from Mt. Holyoke and Simmons.
The 2V8 and 3V8 boats finished with times of 8:10 and 9:18, respectively, in their morning heats.
Conn returns to action at the National Invitational Rowing Championships--which also doubles as the NESCAC Championship--on Sunday, May 11 at Lake Quinsigamond.
