NEW LONDON, Conn. – Connecticut College has hired Hanna Rose as assistant coach of the women's ice hockey program, as announced by head coach Kristin Steele on Friday.
Rose joins the Camels after spending the past season as an assistant coach at Williams College, where she was responsible for the defense as well as navigating the budget, coordinating meals, and planning practice.
"I'm excited to welcome Hanna to our staff," said Steele. "After spending the past year working with Coach Gillis and Coach Rush at Williams College, I'm confident she'll hit the ground running. Her previous experience at the youth level, along with her time as a student assistant at Plattsburgh, has prepared her well for this new role. I look forward to having her join our group at Dayton Arena as we look ahead to the 2025-26 season."
A defender who appeared in 48 career games at Plattsburgh State in her two playing years, Rose recorded 25 career points on nine goals and 16 assists. During her first season with the Cardinals, she helped lead the program to their seventh NCAA National Championship Title. Plattsburgh finished the year with a 29-2-0 mark on the year, and Rose earned Rookie of the Year honors in the NEWHL. Following her freshman year, Rose had some unforeseen medical issues that put a halt to her first semester of play, sophomore year. When joining for the second semester, COVID-19 canceled the season right as NCAA's were to begin. Rose transitioned to a student volunteer coach for her final two years after having a total hip replacement in March of 2022. During the 2022-2023 season, Kevin Houle, Julia Duquette, Kassi Abbott and Rose won NEWHL Coaching Staff of the Year.
Following graduation, Rose returned to her high school alma mater, Northwood School, where she spent one year as the U19 girls hockey assistant coach and as a math teacher. Additionally, Rose has spent the past three summers working with USA Hockey during their July National Team camp as a team leader in 2023, before becoming an intern coach for the last two summers.
A native of Three Mile Bay, N.Y., Rose graduated from Plattsburgh State with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in secondary education.
