NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The women's water polo team from Connecticut College is headed to Genoa, Italy for eight days of training, sightseeing, and enjoying the northern Italian coastline.

They have the incredible opportunity to train with the Italian national water polo team, as there is a national team camp occurring, with the Camels able to participate in some of the action.

"We will have a day of training, followed by an off day, so all told four days of training and four days to explore Italy," said head coach Matt Anderson. "Besides being able to participate with high-level, world class athletes, one of the games against a local club will take place in the sea, where they have a water polo course set up."

The camels will spend a lot of time time in Recco, home of the world  powerhouse water polo club Pro Recco.

The Camels will also see  places such as Camogli and Cinque Terre.

"I'd suggest people to follow us on Instagram @conncollwaterpolo where we will document the fun and learning we are doing," said Anderson.

This is the 4th international trip the program has taken. The men's team went to Italy in 2017, the women to Spain in 2019, and the men last year, in 2024 to Germany and now the women to Italy.

"We are very fortunate to have a supportive school and great support by the friends of Connecticut College water polo," added Anderson. "The experiences they get growing their intellect and curiosity through exploring to these wonderful countries is unmatched. And the fact that they get to participate in matches against international teams is something that they will remember for many many years."
