NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's soccer team opened the 2025 campaign with a 0-0 draw against Hartford on Tuesday afternoon from Freeman Field. Conn begins the year 0-0-1, while Hartford moves to 1-0-1.
The opening ten minutes were slow going as both teams settled into the contest. Conn had the first look at goal just past the ten minute mark, but Aidan Keith (Chesterfield, N.J.) had his shot turned aside by Ryan Lunn. The Camels continued to put pressure on Hartford, as Conn piled on the shots.
Marco Perugini (Medway, Mass.) came the closest to scoring, striking a shot from outside the box that dipped on its way to Lunn, but was punched over the crossbar for a corner. Conn was unable to capitalize with the extended possession as the game remained scoreless at the break.
Perugini had an early look in the second half, but Lunn again came up with the save just three and a half minutes into the half. Charlie Miles (Tarrytown, N.Y.) connected with a header in the 64th minute, but was also unable to solve Lunn.
The Camels nearly broke through with ten minutes left on a nice passing play down the right wing. Max Weiss (Weston, Conn.) was fed a ball into the box from Perugini, but once again, the effort on goal was stopped by Lunn. Conn continued to press over the final ten minutes but was unable to find the back of the net, settling for the 0-0 draw.
Conn outshot Hartford 21-0 overall and 6-0 on shots on target, while holding a 5-1 edge on corner kicks.
T.J. Krongard (Montclair, N.J.) made his first career start in net, playing all 90 minutes and facing no shots. Perugini led the way with two shots on target, while Keith, Miles, Weiss, and Freddie Taylor (Needham Heights, Mass.) all put one on target.
Lunn got the start in goal for the Hawks, finishing with six saves.
Conn returns to action on Saturday afternoon, as the Camels host #1 Amherst at 2:30 p.m. on Freeman Field.
