CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the MIT Invitational on Saturday, falling 3-2 to Brandeis University and 3-0 to MIT at Rockwell Cage.

The Camels finished 1-2 at the tournament, which included a win over Suffolk University on Friday evening. Rae Wartelle (Tacoma, Wash.) was named to the all-tournament team and finished with 28 kills, five blocks and three service aces for the weekend.

Conn (2-2 overall) will next play a tri-match at Worcester State University on Saturday, September 13. The Camels will face Plymouth State University at 1:00 p.m. and Worcester State at 3:00 p.m.

Match 1 – Brandeis 3, Conn College 2 (21-25, 20-25, 25-15, 25-17, 16-14)

Riley Lord (Exeter, N.H.) recorded 10 of her team-high 15 kills in the first two sets as the Camels jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the match. However, the trio of Anna Ertischek, Madison Haft-Abromovitch and Kennedy Lilly combined for 40 kills to lead the Judges all the way back.

In the deciding fifth set, Conn got off to a quick start but fell behind after Brandeis ripped off a 7-1 run to go up 8-4. The Camels pulled even at 14-14 following a kill by Lord, but the Judges wrapped up the next two points to secure the victory.

Wartelle chipped in 13 kills and four blocks in the setback. Aubrie Letourneau (Mattapoisett, Mass.) totaled 36 assists to lead the offense while Dylan Kokkinos (Aurora, Ill.) paced the defense with 12 digs.

Match 2 – MIT 3, Conn College 0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-12)

The Engineers never trailed in the opening set as Jessie Trapp set the tone with five kills. The score was closer in the second set until a 5-0 run gave MIT a 17-12 advantage that it carried to the finish. Zhou and Underwood then combined for 10 kills in the final frame to seal the victory.
