Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Camels Coast Past Medgar Evers

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Connecticut College men's basketball team cruised to an 89-40 victory over Medgar Evers College on Monday evening at the Cougars Cave.

Elias Espinosa (Leonia, N.J.) led four Camels in double figures with a game-high 13 points and shot 5-for-5 for the game. James LaFrance (Guilford, Conn.) and PJ Johnson Jr. (Marietta, Ga.) chipped in 11 points apiece while Cole Craffey (Easton, Mass.) finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. The margin of victory (49) was Conn's largest since a 51-point win over Johnson & Wales in 2000.

The Cougars scored on their opening possession and led for a brief moment, as Conn quickly rattled off 12 straight points to open up a double-digit advantage by the 14:53 mark. The margin ballooned to 20 following a three by Greg Cantwell (Glen Head, N.Y.) with 5:00 to go, and by the end of the half the Camels held a commanding 52-20 lead.

Conn shot 19-for-38 in the stanza and connected on 9-for-16 from long range. Craffey netted all 10 of his points before the break to lead all scorers, and LaFrance, Johnson and Cantwell each supplied nine points in the half.

Espinosa led the charge in the second half with 10 points as the Camels went deep into their bench. A total of 17 players saw game action—and 15 found the scoring column—as Conn closed out the victory.

Espinosa, who also handed out five assists, drilled three triples in the contest to move into second place on the school's career three-point field goal list. His career tally of 204 threes trails only Matt Vadas '14, who finished with 239.

Conn (11-4 overall) will next host Middlebury College on Friday, January 16 at 7:00 p.m.
