BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore forward Will Lawrence of the Connecticut College men's hockey team has been named a semifinalist for the Joe Concannon Award recognizing the best American-born player in New England at the D-II/III level.
The Joe Concannon Award was established in 2001 shortly after the passing of the longtime writer for The Boston Globe, who had a great passion for college hockey while being a strong advocate for amateur athletics.
Lawrence has turned in a fantastic season up to this point, and currently leads the Camels with 19 points on nine goals and 10 assists, which are both team highs. Lawrence ranks tied for third in the NESCAC on goals and tied for 10th on assists, while the 19 points rank seventh. The sophomore is riding his best stretch of the season, with seven points in his last four games, including six across two games at Trinity and Wesleyan, earning him NESCAC Player of the Week on January 26.
The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston, which sponsors the award, will announce the finalists and winner of the 25th Joe Concannon Award in March, following league playoffs and before the start of the NCAA Frozen Four.
