Women's Water Polo Falls to D1 CSUN in Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawaii. - The Connecticut College women's water polo team headed to Hawaii for spring break, falling to division 1 Cal State Northridge 13-2 from Punahou High School.

CSUN started quickly, jumping out to a 2-0 lead just 64 seconds into the contest. The Matadors continued to pressure Conn, extending the lead to 5-0 by the end of the first quarter.

Both defenses picked up their play, as the teams combined for just three goals in the second quarter, coming in a 1:11 stretch. CSUN pushed the lead to 7-0, before Sarah Nagel (Honolulu, Hawaii) got the Camels on the board with 2:18 left, as Conn trailed 7-1 at the break.

The Matadors used a 4-0 third quarter to take an 11-1 advantage into the final quarter. Nagel tallied her second goal of the game, 38 seconds into the fourth, but CSUN added two late goals to earn the 13-2 win.

Conn (2-4, 2-2 CWPA) returns to conference action on Saturday, March 28, as the Camels open up a CWPA weekend against Augustana at 1:00 p.m. in Washington, Pa.
