MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – The Connecticut College men's lacrosse team recorded a pair of historical milestones in an 18-12 road win over Salve Regina University on Monday night at Gaudet Field.
Liam Horkan (Malden, Mass.) led the Camels with four goals on the night, becoming the 10th player in program history to score 100 career goals.
Jim Nagle also collected the 250th career victory of his head coaching career.
Conn, which never trailed in the contest and led by as many as 10, outscored the Seahawks 7-1 in the second quarter to seize control.
Andrew Rainville (Watertown, Conn.) netted two of his four goals during the period as the Camels led 13-6 at the break. Horkan, who had a hat trick before intermission, hit the century mark with 4:32 to go in the half.
Matthew Sofarelli (Jupiter, Fla.) spurred the offense with six assists and also added a pair of goals to finish with a season-high eight points on the night.
Will Zaslow (Trumbull, Conn.) and
Hugh Gates (Mill Valley, Calif.) also notched a pair of markers in the victory.
Patrick Hogan (Wyckoff, N.J.) played the majority of the game in the cage and tied a career high with 15 saves.
Joey DeMarzo (Madison, N.J.) and
Nick Schiliro (Centerport, N.Y.) also saw action in the final minutes.
Horkan's four goals gave him 101 for his career, tying him for seventh all-time in program history. Monday night marked the 16th time in his career that he's scored three or more goals in a game.
Conn (3-1 overall) will next play Hamilton College on Saturday, March 14 at 2:30 p.m. The game will be played at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA.
