Men's Tennis Falls 5-2 at Colby

Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine — The Connecticut College men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Colby College on Sunday afternoon at the Alfond-Wales Tennis Courts. 

The Camels started the match strong, claiming close victories at the top two doubles spots to take an early 1-0 advantage. Arjun Premkumar (Bangalore, India) and Noa Hoshino (Tokyo, Japan) battled to a 7-6 (7-5) win on the No. 1 court while Nikhil Agarwal (San Mateo, Calif.) and Wolf Sohlberg (Espoo, Finland) claimed a 7-5 win at No. 2.

Premkumar carried the momentum into singles action against Rhys Spano at the No. 2 position. After taking the first set in a tiebreak, Premkumar sewed up the match in the second and prevailed by a final tally of 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.

However, Colby captured wins on the other five singles courts to secure the victory. Only one match went to a third set, as Matthew Jeong recovered to defeat Nikolai Kahrs (Oslo, Norway) by a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 final at No. 6.

Conn (3-12 overall, 0-6 NESCAC) will next host Tufts on Saturday, April 18 at noon.
