NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's lacrosse team fell by a 14-4 final against no. 2 Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon in a NESCAC showdown at Silfen Field.
Hudson Greene recorded a game-high six points on four goals and two assists as the Polar Bears remained unbeaten on the season. Bowdoin, which improved to 13-0 overall (9-0 NESCAC), will close out the regular season against undefeated Tufts University.
Isaiah Kozub (Wilbraham, Mass.) paced the Camels with a goal and two assists on the day.
Harrison Zmijewski (San Jose, Calif.),
Matthew Sofarelli (Jupiter, Fla.) and
Liam Horkan (Malden, Mass.) also added markers as Conn wrapped up the home portion of its schedule.
Bowdoin controlled the pace of play in the first half and led 10-1 at intermission. Greene netted all four of his goals before the intermission as the Polar Bears outshot the Camels by a 39-12 margin. Conn's lone score came with 3:09 left in the opening period as Kozub fed Sofarelli to make it a 3-1 game.
The Camels scored twice in the third quarter thanks to an unassisted effort by Zmijewski and a man-up tally from Kozub to cut the deficit to 10-3. However, Bowdoin scored twice in the final six seconds of the period to lead 12-3 heading into the fourth.
Horkan's goal came in the final five minutes of the contest and raised his season total to 23. With 117 career goals, he currently stands two shy of moving into the top-5 all-time at Conn in career goals.
Joey DeMarzo (Madison, N.J.) got the starting nod in goal and made a career-high 12 saves in 30 minutes of work.
Patrick Hogan (Wyckoff, N.J.) played the entire second half and recorded eight stops, and
Hayden Carpenter (Baltimord, Md.) led Conn's defense with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Conn (5-8 overall, 1-8 NESCAC) will wrap up the regular season at Wesleyan University on Wednesday, April 22 at 4:00 p.m.
