NEW LONDON, Conn. – Tim Sweeney announced on Tuesday that he is leaving Connecticut College following seven seasons as head men's basketball coach.
Sweeney has accepted the head coaching position at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., where he will become the 31st head coach in the program's history. The Diplomats are coming off a 22-6 season in which they earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship.
During his tenure in New London, Sweeney turned Conn College into a contender in the highly-competitive New England Small College Athletic Conference. He led the Camels to four straight winning seasons, highlighted by a 2023-24 campaign that included 18 wins and an 8-2 league record. His teams earned five straight NESCAC Championship berths—the longest stretch in program history—and produced seven All-NESCAC selections, as well as the 2024 NESCAC Player of the Year.
The search for Conn's next head coach will begin immediately.
