Tennis Racks Up ITA Academic Awards

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced the 2026 Division III Men's and Women's ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams, and Connecticut College was well represented among the honorees.

Both Conn College programs earned ITA All-Academic Team status by virtue of a team grade point average above 3.2 for the academic year. Under head coach Jakob Klaeson, the women's team posted a GPA of 3.62 while the men's team checked in at 3.67. 

A total of 13 Camels were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, an honor bestowed upon team members who attained a 3.5 GPA or higher for the academic year. Nicolette Baksay, Sana Bhat, Evin Cosar, Asahi Goods, Taylor Mastrogiovanni, Mary Ella Prendergast and Teagan Skulley earned the distinction for the women's team, while Gavin Anderson, Tucker Catalano, Nikolai Kahrs, Wolf Sohlberg, Alexander Stevens and Sigmund Winiecki were honored on men's team.

Within the sport of tennis, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2026, 1,309 Division III women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 177 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. On the men's side, a total of 1,151 Division III student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 147 programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
