Emily Moniz

Emily Moniz is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Connecticut College field hockey program.

Moniz joins the Camels after spending the past four years as a student-athlete at Virginia Wesleyan University, including three under the direction of current Conn College head coach Ryley van der Velde. She reunites with her former head coach to lead a program that is coming off its first NESCAC Championship berth since 2012.

A defender who played in 63 career contests, Moniz started every game for the Marlins over her final three seasons. As a senior she helped lead the program to its highest win total since 2005, as Virginia Wesleyan finished the year with a 12-7 overall record that included a 4-4 mark in the competitive Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). The squad qualified for the ODAC Tournament for the first time since 2016, and garnered an ECAC Championship bid for the first time in school history.

Moniz served as a volunteer coach at Virginia Wesleyan in spring 2025, assisting with practice planning and execution, goalie warm-up, defensive technique, and positioning in drills to enhance individual and team performance. She also has prior coaching experience at both the club and youth levels.

A native of Westfield, Mass., Moniz graduated from Virginia Wesleyan with a degree in business.
