Kristy Norbert recently completed her fourth season as a volunteer assistant field hockey coach at Connecticut College. She is responsible for assisting head coach Chrissy Chappell in overseeing the training and development of the team’s defense.
Professionally, Norbert is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Empower Her Network and has been working with the non-profit organization since its inception in 2017. After identifying an existing gap in services for domestic survivors of human trafficking, she played a pivotal role in launching the company which assists these survivors who have a will for independence by providing housing, education, and employment for them.
Norbert also has professional experience in the areas of facilitation, team development, and social science and has been a lead facilitator in both the corporate and non-profit sectors supporting conflict resolution and collaboration among and between management positions for individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds. Furthermore, in her professional experience, Norbert has served as the executive director for Boys Hope Girls Hope Baltimore (BHGH) and worked as a counselor at the Friends School of Baltimore.
Norbert is a licensed clinical social worker in Maryland and Connecticut. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Northwestern University, where she also captained its Division I field hockey team, and a master’s in social work from the University of Maryland. Norbert, who is a mother of three and a member of the Palmyra High School Hall of Fame for field hockey, currently resides in New London with her husband, Geoff Norbert, who is the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement and New Programs at Connecticut College.
