Box Score 2 NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College volleyball team has secured the #1 seed for the 2012 New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship and will host all seven matches next weekend from November 2-4.
The Camels closed out their regular season with a sweep in a tri-match against Western Connecticut State University and UMass Dartmouth, extending their winning streak to 12. In the early match against the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth, the Camels earned a 3-0 shutoutt win. The game scores were 25-16, 25-20 and 25-17 in favor of the Camels. The Camels defeated the host Colonials 3-1 in the late match.
The Camels, ranked #1 in New England, will carry a 22-2 record into their quarterfinal match up against Colby Friday night. UMass Dartmouth is also enjoying a terrific season and fell to 20-9 with the setback.
In the UMass Dartmouth victory, Anelise Hohl (Atherton, Calif.) buried 10 kills without recording an error on 18 attempts to finish with a .556 hitting percentage in the triumph. Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, Calif.) chipped in with eight kills, nine digs and four aces while senior classmate Katie Ketcham (San Francisco, Calif.) dished out 29 assists for the Camels. Cailyn Straubel (Dallas, Texas) had eight kills and two digs while Caroline Martin (Palo Alto, Calif.) posted a team-best 10 digs in the win.
