Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College volleyball team secured a 3-1 victory against visiting Colby College in a NESCAC Quarterfinal match up played at Luce Field House Friday night. The game scores were 23-25, 25-19, 25-12 and 25-15 in favor of the hosts.
With their 13th consecutive win, the Camels (23-2) advance to the semifinal round for the fourth time and will play fifth seeded Williams at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon here in New London.
In a spirited effort, the feisty Mules closed out their season with a record of 13-13.
The hosts were led by senior Rachel Schroff (Palos, Verdes, Calif.) and rookie outside hitter Caroline Martin, who both had double-doubles for the winning side.
Schroff buried 20 kills with just one error on 35 attempts (.543) and had 12 digs and four aces in the triumph. Martin finished with 20 kills, 11 digs and five aces, posting a .514 hitting percentage in the victory.
Senior Katie Ketcham (San Francisco, Calif.) dished out 51 assists to go with 14 digs for the winning side.
Colby College first year Natalie Roy (Los Altos, Calif.) had four kills and 11 digs in the contest. Maggie Taylor (Cabin John, Md.) corralled a match-high 22 digs while senior Emily Varni (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) finished with 18 digs. Kate Bellerose (West Newton, Mass.) registered three blocks to go with a pair of kills in the contest.
