BRIDGEPORT, Pa. --(Ed Haas, CWPA) Nicky Jasbon (So., Greenacres, Fla./St. Andrew) of Connecticut College scored 12 times, including four goals during a 12-11 victory over then No. 8-ranked the University of La Verne, in games on both the West and East Coasts to claim the March 18 Division III Player of the Week award.
She began the week in the Golden State by keying the Camels' offense with four goals and chipping in a steal to account for a one-goal victory over La Verne. The win marked the first defeat of a Top-10 ranked team in the history of the then No. 10-ranked Connecticut College women's water polo program.
Following a 13-1 loss to Division III No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, she tossed in a goal against Division III No. 7 Chapman University (9-7 L) before rifling in a pair of markers against the California Institute of Technology (11-4 W).
Back on the East Coast, she combined for five goals, six steals and seven ejections drawn against host/No. 19 Hartwick College (14-5 L) and Brown University (19-10 L).
The award marks the second weekly honor of Jasbon's career as she previously picked up the April 2, 2012 Division III Rookie of the Week award.
In addition, she becomes the first Connecticut College player to claim the Division III Player of the Week award since teammate Kristin Lampley (Sr., Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) achieved the feat on April 25, 2011.
