WASHINGTON, Pa.--Senior All-American Nick DiLeo (Coopersburg, Pa.) exploded with 11 goals, six steals and three assists Saturday, propelling the Camels into the winners bracket with an opportunity to match their highest finish at a Division III Championship.
Connecticut College will clash with their longtime rivals from Washington & Jefferson College Sunday morning at 10:20 a.m. in the third place matchup.
The fourth seeded Camels tamed the fifth seeded Lyons from Penn State University-Behrend in a 16-10 victory. In the second round, top seeded Johns Hopkins University earned a 19-9 win against the Camels.
Senior All-American Robert Spencer (Chevy Chase, Md.) had two goals, five assists and two steals in Saturday's action. Carlos Heros (Miami, Fla.) checked in with five goals, adding three steals and three earned ejections.
Henry McMillan (New York, N.Y.) had three goals, two assists and two steals. Aidan Kelso (Washington, D.C.) had three assists and a pair of steals Saturday. Isaih Porter (La Jolla, Calif.) had two goals and two assist for the Camels.
Daniel Seo (Lakewood, Calif.), Will Bogle (Weston, Mass.) and Paul MacMullin (Haverhill, Mass.) all contributed with a goal.
Head Coach Matt Anderson relied on two student athletes in goal. Matthew Wagman (Needham, Mass.) started both matches. Wagman made three saves in three quarters of action against Penn State-Behrend. Bogle chipped in with four saves to help seal the victory in one quarter of relief duty.
In the second round match against Johns Hopkins, Wagman turned aside five shots in the opening half with Bogle collecting six saves in the second stanza.
The Camels built a 7-4 advantage at the half against Penn State-Behrend and opened up a 12-7 lead after three before they closed out the 16-10 win. The Camels were able to stick around against Hopkins for three quarters. Connecticut College closed to within 11-7 with 1:30 remaining in the third. But the Blue Jays responded by netting the final three goals in the period and continued to pull away for the 19-9 win.
