#8 Willams College 98, Connecticut College 90 Vadas Sets School Scoring Record with 39 Point Outburst

Box Score

NEW LONDON, Conn.—Connecticut College senior Matt Vadas set the program's all-time scoring record with a 39 point outburst Friday night as Connecticut College dropped a closely contested 98-90 decision to eighth ranked Williams College at Luce Field House.

Vadas moved past former All-American and New England and Connecticut College Athletic Hall of Famer Kareem Tatum '01, who held the mark for more than a decade with 1656.

With the 39 points, Vadas has netted 1677 points for the Camels. He also holds the school's all-time record with 236 three pointers. Vadas buried eight threes Friday night, tying another single game school record shared by Dwayne Stallings '99 and Christian Mosley '08 for three point makes.

"Matt has been an outstanding offensive player his entire career," Connecticut College Head Men's Basketball Coach Tom Satran said. "He scores from the post, he can drive, he makes pull ups, he makes threes and he makes his foul shots. The best thing about this record is that Matt never mentions it. He just wants to win, which is the right way to approach it I think."

Vadas was 13-for-22 from the field and 8-for-11 from long distance. Zuri Pavlin (New York, N.Y.) finished with 17 points and nine boards in the contest, shooting 6-for-9 from the field.

Rob Harrigan (Milford, Conn.) finished with nine points in the loss. Alex Hall (Durham, N.C.) registered seven points and five assists in the backcourt for the hosts.

"We knew we would have to play near perfect to beat them because they are so efficient and we didn't pull that off," Satran said. "Still, I'm proud of our guys."

Connecticut College moves to 9-13 with a 2-7 mark in the NESCAC. They will host Hamilton College Saturday afternoon at 4. The Ephs improved their record to 20-3 with an 8-1 mark in league play. They will meet Wesleyan tomorrow afternoon in Middletown, Conn.

Michael Mayer (Durham, N.C.) had 30 points, eight rebound and six assists to lead the visitors. Duncan Robinson chipped in with 25 points, six assists, four rebounds and four steals for the Ephs. Daniel Wohl (La Canada, Calif.) added 22 points, six rebounds and seven helpers while Mike Greenman (Linwood, N.J.) reached double digits with 13 points.
