Box Score

NEW LONDON, Conn--Freshman Alex Tonhazy (New York,  N.Y.) scored 21 of his career-high 28 points in the second stanza to spark the Connecticut College Camels in a late game rally but it was not quite enough as Trinity College was able to hold on for the 80-68 NESCAC victory.

Tonhazy finished five rebounds and three assists and was 9-for-16 from the field and 5-for-7 from long distance.  Sophomore Zuri Pavlin (New York, N.Y.) registered a double double with 16 points and 21 rebounds in the setback.

"We did some good things but didn't have quite enough against an excellent Trinity team," Connecticut College Head Men's Basketball Coach Tom Satran said. "Congratulations to Bryan Gross. He is a model student athlete and a pleasure to coach."

The Bantams improved their record to 18-5 with an 8-1 mark in NESCAC play. The Camels slipped to 7-14 and are 0-8 in conference action.

Bo McKinley (Westport, N.Y.) and Alex Hall (Durham, N.C.) both finished with six points for the Camels.

The aforementioned Gross contributed with four points, one assist, one steal and some nice defensive play in his final home game in Luce Field House. He received numerous ovations from the crowd and was well supported as the lone senior member of the team.

Trinity College junior Jaquann Starks (Hartford, Conn.) dumped in a team-best 20 points to go with four rebounds, connecting on 4-of-7 shots from three point range and 4-of-4 attempts from the charity stripe.

Juniors Rick Naylor (Sudbury, Vt.), Shay Ajayi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) along with sophomore Ed Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y.) all finished with 11 points for the Bantams.  Odugenko pulled down a team-best eight boards while Ajayi finished with six.

Chris Turnbull (Ridgewood, N.J.) reached double digits with 10 points in the win.

Pavlin knocked down a turnaround jump shot with 14:07 remaining in the first half to cap an early 15-3 scoring surge for the Camels.

But the Bantams stormed back with a 19-9 run of their own to even things up at 26 when Stark put in a lay-up with 5:23 to play.

The Camels responded though and when Pavlin buried a three ball with 3:41 remaining, the hosts enjoyed a 34-27 advantage.

But Trinity ended the half with a 10-to-2 run and carried a 37-36 advantage into the break after Naylor buried a triple in the closing moments of action.

The Bantams led by as many as 11 points early on in the second half and were on top 66-56 when Ogudenko knocked down a jumper with 3:31 to play.

The Camels never really went away though, and Tonhazy buried a three ball with 2:25 remaining that made it a 68-63 game with 2:25 remaining.

But  Andrew Hurd (Windsor, Conn. ) answered for the Bantams with a three-pointer from the right side of the arch to push the lead back to 71-63 with 2:16 to play and the visitors were able to hold on for the 80-68 win.

The Camels carried a 37-34 advantage on the backboards in the game.
