Camels Extend Winning Streak to 14 Matches on Senior Sunday

Camels Extend Winning Streak to 14 Matches with Two More Wins on Senior  Day

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College women's water polo hosted a Division III regional in Lott Natatorium this weekend.

The Camels (15-10) continued on their torrid stretch of play Sunday, posting two more wins to extend their winning streak to 14.

In the first match, the Camels defeated Macalester College 10-3. Later on in the day, Connecticut College knocked off the Pioneers from Utica in a 12-4 triumph.

"This weekend was a special one for the Camels," Connecticut College Head Men's and Women's Water Polo Coach Matt Anderson said. "It was a chance at home to say goodbye to four outstanding seniors who have done so much for the women's water polo program here. To say they will be missed is an understatement As a team we were able to get the program's first shutout and we were able to finish the regular season conference play undefeated (14-0) for the first time in history.

Now we need to focus on winning three more games so we can add the title of CWPA Division 3 champions!"

Isabelle Baneux (Ithaca, N.Y.) had two goals, two assists and three steals to lead the Camels past the Scots of Macalester. Junior Kelsey Millward (Baie D'Urfe, Quebec) and Brianna Harrity (Jeffersonville, Pa.) both had two goals, one assist and one steal in the victory.  Junior Abbey Wrobleski (Honolulu, Hawaii) finished with one assist and four steals for the Camels.

Junior Ashley Amey (Napa, Calif.) made three saves in the start while sophomore Susan Doetsch (Arnold, Md.) registered five stops in relief duty.

Emma Stephens (Huntington Beach, Calif.) had a hat-trick with three goals and one steal to lead the Camels in the offensive uprising against Utica.  April Anderson (Mill Valley, Calif.) scored two goals while adding three steals in the victory.  Millward checked in with two goals and two assists.

Senior Karen Cardona (Chicago, Ill.) had a goal, two assists and one steal in the win.  Sarah Sovia (Pottstown, Pa.), Amey and Doetsch all had one save in the cage.

Millward leads the club with 60 goals and 51 steals.  Jacobson and Jasbon have netted 39 goals each while Baneux has distributed a team-best 45 assists.
