Junior Zuri Pavlin (New York, N.Y.) ripped down a game-high 14 rebounds to go with his five points for the Camels.
"I'm disappointed for our team," Connecticut College Head Men's Basketball Coach Tom Satran said. "We played really hard. Our offense, which has been really good all season, just wasn't there today and of course, Williams is very hard to guard."
The Camels took a 26-20 lead when Pavlin executed on a pick and roll with Daniel Janel (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.), exploding to the hoop for a dunk with 3:43 to go.
With 1:36 to go in the half, Rowe extended the lead with a hoop. But Casey Answered back with a triple for the Ephs with 1:24 remaining to make it a 30-25. However, the Camels ended the half by scoring the final three points. Janel buried a17 footer with 40 seconds left and the hosts enjoyed a 33-25 lead at the break.
In the second stanza, Williams slowly chipped away at the Camels' advantage. With 7:51 to play, Chris Galvin (Memphis, Tenn.) made a nice feed to Aronowitz in the paint, who banked in a reverse lay up to trim the deficit to 55-53. Sean McNally (Hanover, Mass.) countered for the Camels with a three ball from the right side of the arc to push the lead back to 58-53 with 7:24 to play.
Williams continued to respond though and when Aronowitz knocked down a trey with 5:22 remaining; the Camels lead was trimmed to 60-59.
Later on with 2:12 to play, Aronowitz tied the game at 64 with a bucket in the paint. On the ensuing possession, Rowe knocked down a three-pointer from the left side to put the Camels back on top 67-64.
But Aronowitz converted a pair of free throws with 1:42 remaining and Cole Teal (Chesterton, Ind.) put the visitors on top for good at 68-67 with two more points on the charity stripe with 47 seconds left.
The Camels could not convert on their next possession and Aronowitz netted two more free throws with 2.2 seconds left to make it a 70-67 game.
Connecticut College did a terrific job executing the inbounds play, setting up a three-point shot at the buzzer in similar fashion to Bryce Drew's famous triple for Valparaiso but the shot was off line and the visitors were able to hold on for the three point win.
Prior to the tip-off, the Camels celebrated the accomplishments of senior Bo McKinley (Westport, N.Y.). McKinley finished with five points in the contest and has amassed 636 points, 147 rebounds, 190 assists and 53 steals over the past four years.
"Bo is an exemplary teammate, leader and competitor," Coach Satran said. "He is a top student and will undoubtedly be a top professional. Every off season he has improved his skills and strength through very hard work. He never seems to have an off day emotionally. It has been a pleasure and an honor to coach him and know his family."
McKinley will be making his third consecutive appearance on the NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team this year.
