NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's water polo team concluded CWPA Division III Regional Tournament play by splitting a pair of games for the second straight time on Sunday. After dropping an 8-4 decision to Macalester early in the morning, the Camels registered a dominant 8-2 victory over Utica to conclude the weekend on a high note.
Macalester 8, Connecticut College 4
Connecticut College played Macalester tight at the beginning and pulled even at 1-1 when senior April Anderson (Mill Valley, Calif.) found the back of the net at the 6:08 mark of the first quarter. The Scots, however, rattled off five unanswered between the first and third frames to pull away and finish the weekend undefeated.
Connecticut College 8, Utica 2
After having to face the strongest team earlier in the day, the Camels ended tournament play with a convincing victory over winless Utica. Connecticut College led from wire-to-wire and most notably outscored the Pioneers, 5-0, in the second and third quarters. Senior Shannon Cry (Monterey, Calif.) and sophomore Ginny McCool (Delray Beach, Fla.) each netted a hat trick to lead the way for the Camels.
Connecticut College (2-2) will next face Brown in its final home match of the season on Tuesday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m.
