Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine – Sophomore Colin Stevens (Concord, N.H.) scored his second goal of the season in the third period as the Connecticut College men's ice hockey team rallied from two goals down to defeat Colby, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon.
Colby (3-5, NESCAC 1-4) built up a two-goal lead by the first intermission. Carter Breitenfeldt opened the scoring just 1:30 into the game, and Brendan Murphy doubled the margin by crashing the net for a rebound with 15 seconds remaining in the frame.
The Camels, however, shook off the slow start and responded with two unanswered markers in the second period. Sophomore Chris Adamsons (Portland, Conn.) put the visitors on the scoreboard by finishing passes from junior Paul Capozzi (Lake Forest, Ill.) and sophomore Anthony Quatieri (Peabody, Mass.), and senior captain Ryan Petti (Tewksbury, Mass.) knotted the score at 14:05 by sending a rocket past Mule netminder Andrew Tucci. Stevens then provided the heroics at the 7:56 mark of the third period to complete the comeback.
Senior netminder Connor Rodericks (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) registered a season-high 41 saves to pick up the victory between the posts for Connecticut College, while Tucci turned away 27 shots in the losing effort.
Connecticut College (3-5, NESCAC 2-4) will take a break for final exams and return to the ice in a month when it hosts Worcester State on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m.
