Women's Water Polo Pounds Washington & Jefferson, 11-6, for Fifth CWPA League Win of the Spring

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Sophomore Stephania Lopez (Chicago, Ill.) factored into six goals in leading the Connecticut College women's water polo team to an 11-6 triumph over Washington & Jefferson on Friday evening. The Camels, who rallied to defeat Penn State Behrend in overtime earlier in the day, extended their winning streak to three games overall and four in CWPA action.

After the teams traded goals in the opening three minutes, junior captain Kaitlin Reagan scored two straight goals to kickstart a 4-0 run to give the Camels a 5-1 cushion to work with through one quarter of play. Connecticut College also outscored the Presidents by a 4-2 margin in the third quarter, which included getting a pair of tallies from Ashley Inatowski, to build up a five-goal lead and never looked back.

Lopez tallied six points on three goals and three assists while also providing three steals to lead the way for the Camels. Reagan made strong contributions throughout the pool by finishing with three goals, two assists, and two steals to go along with making three saves between the posts in the second and fourth frames. Junior captain Ginny McCool (Delray Beach, Fla.) turned away four shots in net during the first and third quarters.

Connecticut College (6-6), which has won five of its six matches in CWPA Division III play, will next face host Grove City tomorrow morning at 11:15 a.m. and Utica at 3:45 p.m.
