Men's Ice Hockey Skates to 3-3 Draw With Middlebury

Box Score

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Senior Jacob Moreau (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec) and sophomore Colin McCabe (Pembroke, Mass.) each factored into a pair of goals as the Connecticut College men's ice hockey team played Middlebury to a 3-3 tie on Saturday afternoon.

Connecticut College went on an early power play just 17 seconds into the game and nearly got on the scoreboard when sophomore Colin Stevens (Concord, N.H.) fired a shot off the post from the right circle. The Panthers' Bret Pastor hit a post as well during the midway point before a blast off the stick of Brendan Dawson finally broke the scoreless deadlock with 4:41 remaining.

The beginning of the second period mirrored the first, as the Camels went on a power play and saw senior captain Ryan Petti (Tewksbury, Mass.) knock the puck off the pipe. A breakaway by Moreau was also stopped by goalie Adam Wisco, and the Panthers followed by doubling the margin with 9:01 on the clock by getting a marker from Conor Breen. The Camels, however, were able to slice the lead in half when Moreau stole the puck in the neutral zone and finished a pass from freshman Josh Chapman (Weare, N.H.) at 14:36.

The visitors started the third period strong by finding the back of the net twice. McCabe helped set up both tallies which were recorded by freshman Younghoon Choi (Seoul, South Korea) and Moreau at 5:58 and 9:57, respectively, to give his team a 3-2 lead.

Unfortunately, Middlebury (7-8-3, NESCAC 5-4-3) immediately netted the equalizer when Danny Tighe finished his own rebound after receiving a pass from Alex Henritz. Both teams had chances to win the game in the late minutes of the third frame and overtime, but nothing could get past the goalies the rest of the way.

Senior Connor Rodericks (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) made 27 saves for Connecticut College and Middlebury's Wisco stopped 20 shots.

Connecticut College (8-8-2, NESCAC 4-6-2) will next visit Tufts on Friday evening at 7 p.m.
