Women’s Soccer Routs UMass Dartmouth, 6-0, To Conclude Non-Conference Action

By Sam Maidenberg '23

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's soccer team secured its ninth win of the season by recording a 6-0 win on the road against UMass Dartmouth on Thursday night.

The Camels got on the scoresheet 29 minutes into the game through junior forward Alexa Blaney (South Hadley, Mass.) and doubled their lead just seconds before halftime after a goal from freshman Ella Davidyock (Newtown, Pa.)

The Camels never looked back, pouring on four more goals in the second half. Junior Mya Johnson (Oly Lyme, Conn.) scored the third goal of the game in the 51st minute, followed by a Kat Norton (Hampton, Conn.) goal just eight minutes later. Throughout the final 30 minutes of play, the Camels added two more goals, first through sophomore Lauren Anastos (Hull, Mass.), and finished off by a penalty kick from classmate Rylie Griffiths (West Hartford, Conn.).

The dominant performance, which was the Camels' largest margin of victory so far this season, was demonstrated on the stat sheet, doubling the Corsairs' shot total 18-9. Two goalkeepers shared the victory for the Camels, with sophomore Nici Scola (Braintree, Mass.) and freshman Ella Kahrl (Wellesley, Mass.) each making three saves apiece. The game marked the final out of conference match of the season for the Camels, who finished undefeated with four wins and one tie in non-NESCAC games.

Connecticut College (9-2-2) will next host NESCAC rival Tufts on Freeman Field on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The senior class will also be recognized for their contributions to the program prior to the contest.
