NEW LONDON, Conn. – Despite having senior
Maddie Ford (Acton, Mass.) and junior
Tiernan Shea (Grafton, Mass.) factor into a combined six event victories, the Connecticut College women's swimming & diving team dropped its opening dual meet of the season to Middlebury by a score of 158-130 at Lott Natatorium on Saturday.
Ford won three individual freestyle events and also competed on a first-place relay. She first won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:54.55, which was almost four seconds faster than her nearest competitor, and then took the 100 free in 52.29 seconds as well as the 500 free in 5:12.02. Ford then concluded the meet by anchoring the winning 200 free relay that clocked in at 1:40.78 and also included juniors
Vaughn Ammon (Franklin, Mass.) and
Anika Svoboda (Westford, Mass.) as well as senior
Kenzie Healy (Westport, Conn.).
Shea also won multiple events by capturing the 100 and 200 backstroke in times of 58.53 and 2:09.95. Other Camels who won events included freshman
Hannah Guay (Wakefield, Mass.) in the 1,000 free, sophomore
Marie-Eve Hebert (Princeton, N.J.) in the 100 fly, and sophomore
Sarah Franco (Weston, Conn.) in the 200 IM.
Connecticut College will next trek to Wesleyan to compete in the Connecticut Cup on Saturday, Dec. 4.
