Women’s Lacrosse Drops Non-Conference Contest To No. 3 Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest to No. 3 Tufts by a 20-3 decision on Saturday afternoon at Bello Field.

Even though sophomore Emily Yorns (Longmeadow, Mass.) was able to win the first two draws of the game for the Camels, it was the Jumbos who scored five unanswered and never looked back.

Junior Kelly Wolin (Sudbury, Mass.) eventually put the visitors on the board with 16:45 remaining in the first half. However, the Jumbos responded with five in a row with five different players finding the back of the net for the second time. Catherine Lawliss then netted her second marker of the game to give the hosts an 11-2 lead at recess.

Tufts continued to dominate the second by utilizing a balanced scoring attack. After Wolin found senior Mazey Loomis (Wenham, Mass.) with 24:52 left, the Jumbos ended the game on a 6-0 run to seal the final outcome.

Connecticut College (0-3) was paced by Wolin on offense and senior Abbie Cronin (North Andover, Mass.) on defense. Wolin recorded a goal and an assist, while Cronin finished with three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Yorns matched a game high with five draws, and freshman goalie Violette Nidds (Ridgewood, N.J.) made 15 saves.

Tufts (3-0), which had 11 different players find the back of the net, got hat tricks from Claire Wright and Emma Joyce. Colette Smith had six points on two goals and four assists, and Anna Clarke won four draw controls. Molly Laliberty was credited with the win after making four stops during the first half of action.

The Camels will return home to face Colby on Saturday, April 24th and honor their senior class prior to the match.
