Men’s Swimming & Diving Defeats Vassar By A Landslide

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.
– Junior Mitchell Lockwood (Winchester, Mass.) and sophomore Matthew Laclef (Bethesda, M.D.) each factored into three top finishes which led to the Connecticut College men's swimming and diving team's convincing victory against Vassar by a score of 203-92 at Vassar College on Monday afternoon.
 
Lockwood posted a win in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.80. He also started the backstroke leg for the winning 200 medley relay which finished with a time of 1:35.98 and included senior Aj Steininger (Manhattan, N.Y.), freshman Justin Finkel, and senior Sean Geisler (New Paltz, N.Y.).
 
Laclef posted wins in the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard backstroke events with marks of 9:47.64 and 2:00.34. He also anchored the winning 400 free relay which registered a time of 3:13.78 and included Finkel, senior Charlie Adl (New Canaan, Conn.), and Lockwood. Adl also registered another top finish in the 500 free with a time of 4:45.21.
 
Senior Colin Merrill (Glastonbury, Conn.) and freshman Andrew Bartolomucci also posted two wins for the Camels. Merrill won the 200 breast and 400 IM in 2:18.52 and 4:17.65. Bartolomucci won the 200 and 100 fly in 1:56.71 and 52.95 seconds.
 
For diving, Kai Listgarten (San Mateo, Calif.) captured both the 1 meter and 3-meter diving events with scores of 260.55 and 266.85.
 
Connecticut College (3-1) will be competing next against Amherst in Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
