MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Connecticut College women's volleyball team fell by a 3-0 final to Middlebury College on Friday night in NESCAC action at Pepin Gymnasium.

The Panthers won by set scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-12 to improve to 7-6 on the season and 2-3 in league play. Katie Kraczkowsky led Middlebury with 13 kills while Lexi Linafelter added 10 and Lucy Ambach contributed eight kills and five blocks.

Conn dropped to 6-7 overall (1-4 NESCAC) with the loss. Emma Wheeler (Meredith, N.H.) led the Camels with seven kills and Christina Leduc (North Dennis, Mass.) and Katherine Randall (Chicago, Ill.) added six apiece. Wheeler also finished with three blocks while Julia Dailey (Charlottesville, Va.) recorded a team-high nine digs.

The Camels played from behind in the opening set but stayed within striking distance early. A kill by Wheeler brought the visitors to within three at 15-12, but from that point on the Panthers took control. Middlebury picked up 10 of the next 11 points to close out the set as Britt Lange contributed three service aces during the run.

Conn led by as many as four in the second set, but a 5-0 run by the hosts put Middlebury back in front at 14-13. For the rest of the set, neither side led by more than two until Lange's ace capped a 4-1 finish for the Panthers.

Middlebury never trailed in the final set en route to closing out the match. The Panthers led 16-10 and extended the margin behind an 8-0 run to bring about match point. The hosts finished with 40 kills on the night and added 11 aces.

Conn College will next play at Hamilton College on Saturday, October 8 at 2 p.m.
