MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Connecticut College women's swimming and diving team opened the 2022-23 season with a 210-88 setback at Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon.

The Camels got strong efforts from Tiernan Shea (Grafton, Mass.), Vaughn Ammon (Franklin, Tenn.), Anika Svoboda (Westford, Mass.) and Kate Edison (Westford, Mass.) on the day. All four swimmers nabbed points in the four events in which they competed.

Shea recorded Conn's lone first-place finish of the meet, winning the 100 back in a time of 59.30. She also took second place in the 200 back (2:12.17) and helped power the 200 medley (1:51.07) and 200 free (1:40.55) relay squads to runner-up finishes.

Ammon, who swam the anchor leg of the 200 free relay, notched second-place finishes in the 200 free (1:57.97), 50 free (25.41) and the 100 free (55.02). Svoboda and Edison competed on both relay teams, and the latter also grabbed a runner-up finish in the 100 fly (59.14).

Conn College returns to action at the Connecticut Cup on December 2-3 at Wesleyan University.
